The only person he hurt was himself, by handing ammunition to any future political opponent for them to say, "He doesn't keep his promises."

Actually what Cruz (R-Canada) did was not a surprise. Only a total moron would expect an endorsement after Trump's attacks on Cruz's family.

Trump's speech was brilliant. I mean he offered zero solutions to the problems he outlined, probably because he doesn't have any solutions, but at least he addressed that these things were problems at all. Hilary is on the side of hate group black lives matter, Trump is on the side of law and order. Don't rule out Trump getting the support of some black voters, they are crying out for law and order in their States and cities where black people are disproportionately the victims of murder. It's a small demographic that needs dealing with, young black men aged 14-30, which make up a tiny percentage of the US are responsible for 50% of the murders and close to 50% of the victims. I'm sure parents will want to see this cycle end. And surely by now they know this wont happen under Hilary. Trump should push this.
Then he addresses Islamic Terrorism, which the democrats are so retarded and useless on they have put the entire West in danger. If you see another US Islamist terrorist attack, and Hilary calls it work place violence, or blames it on gun legislation, and ignores the Islamic doctrine which underpins the attack. More people will see how unequipped Hilary will be to deal with this.
Trump has also identified the shrinking middle class, and the harder times for middle America. The financial crash hurt them the most, and while the very poor have been looked after, and the rich have gotten richer, they have been left behind to take the full economic burden of that entire screw up. They have seen their wages compressed, their industries shipped abroad, Obama has not cared for them, Hilary is not going to care for them. Trump is giving a voice to the white, hard working, forgotten Americans that built this great country of yours.

If he focuses on the lack of law and order, the growing unrest and mistrust and militarisation of the police. If he continues to acknowledge the link between Islam and terrorism every time there is a terror attack, which seems like every other day now, while Hilary completely pretends they have nothing to do together. And he focuses on supporting the white middle America that has been left behind, he stands a better chance of winning than what people think.

    That is an interesting attitude.

Actually, Trump has solutions, but they will not work. They will cause a lot of economic damage. He will erect high tariff walls. He will default on the national debt.

Do explain to me how the President can "default on the national debt"?

Does the president have some special power over congress that you know about?

Where do you get this information about Trumps motives? Do you have a crystal ball???

    National Review May 11, 2016

Last week Trump initially said, “I would borrow, knowing that if the economy crashed, you could make a deal” to pay bondholders less than full value on the debt owed to them. This is, after all, the sort of thing Trump has done with creditors when, say, one of his casinos went bankrupt. It is also more or less what Greece has repeatedly negotiated with its bondholders over the last few years.

But the United States is neither Greece nor one of The Donald’s businesses. There wouldn’t be any outside entity to force bondholders to accept less than face value. And a President Trump would have little leverage in any negotiation without threatening a general default. But even the hint of a default would inject an almost unprecedented level of uncertainty into international markets, causing interest rates to spike for all other kinds of debt, from corporate debt to state- and local-government debt.

Its funny. You keep dredging up the same tired old quotes and articles to support the same tired old Democratic Hate Machine rhetoric. This is what, the fourth time you posted this?

So anyway, let me (again) address this issue.
Trump described a standard practice in business; negotiate a lower margin when conditions have changed the dynamic of a business deal. It isn't illegal, immoral or unethical.

What is unpatriotic, immoral and insanely destructive, is driving our national debt to over $20 MILLION with nothing to show for it, and then shrugging as if to say "OOPSIE".

And what you really wanted to detract from is that the Democrats have no plan for the debt, other than to continue the current course, and tax the 1%, which we all know won't happen, because the Clinton's are part of the 1% and have no desire at all to help pay off the mess their guy created.

Trump has not said anything that Bill Clinton did not do.....

When Interest rates are falling or are low......

You call in Bonds that are Issued (redeem them face value---they all have a call option)
Then you issue new debt at lower rates and/or longer maturity with better call provisions....

There is talk of 100 year infrastructure bonds.....

Fisrt off, I see nothing about defaulting on the national debt...

Second, what do you think Obama has been doing for the last 7+ years?????

You do know that the national debt is 19 trillion.

Obama is responsible for 9 trillion....

Cruz grew a pair and finally voiced an honest opinion.

Politics is not about one's own self absorbed opinion. It's about the opinions of others around you. The only thing Cruz did was damage his own reputation. He made a pledge to support the GOP candidate, and by not doing so, he has no political future as a result.

No, what Cruz did when elected was confirm and SWEAR AN OATH to serve his district, their good, their wishes. He gave his word, his honor, his name that he would do what is in the best interest of the people, and if his actions were in that capacity it should be shown in the districts voting records. Either way he could be done though, people are done with his child like antics and constant useless flip-flopping. He is not a Texan, or even an American, he was born in Canada to a Cuban and an American transplant. If it was how he feels more power to him, if he thought it would be a working strategy for any future election he just hung himself, if he intended to go out in a blaze of glory he failed because he seems more to be pitied above feared because the other senators know he is done. Political suicide is a bitch.

No you are mistaken, no matter what you may think of Mr Trump, what Ted Cruz did was shoot himself in the balls. History will prove he made a grave miscalculation. Despite what he claims to feel the truth of the matter is that the action he took was merely a calculation. A lot of people are convinced it was a miscalculation.

Cruze has always had Balls...he just does not use them very wisely.....

He fights with congress.....he fights with his associates...and
he cuts off his nose to spite his face......

Trump invited him to have the last word on Trump's stage....
Trump knew what the speech was and did not push him to change it....

Trump was the bigger man as he has been with all the Republican Elites saying
he will do it with or without them......

I agree. It was an effective speech. He pushed all the right Republican buttons, and a few others besides.

I liked the response to his pledge of support for Israel. I am glad that in the United States support for Israel is not a political issue. The political issue is how best to support Israel.

Like most Republican politicians since Ronald Reagan he promises to cut taxes while spending more on the military. He did not say anything about paying off the national debt in eight years, but he has promised that he will.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...eliminate-19-trillion-in-debt-in-eight-years/

He said that the United States is the most heavily taxed country in the world. That is not true.

    *not_secure_link*www.forbes.com/2009/04/09/tea-party-taxes-opinions-columnists-bartlett.html

One should not evaluate a political message by the effect it has on one's self, but by the effect it has on its chosen audience.

I am interested in seeing how this speech will effect Trump's standing in the polls.

I will not vote for Trump. I am glad he won the Republican nomination. I feel his appeal.

    Until..........

Did you see Trump's rant about Cruze 24 hours after stating he knew what he was going to say? I'm sorry, but if you expect to hear about his platform and plans, you went away wanting more - well, at least something other than what you got.

Thank you for the facetious reply. How about investing in the police force, employing more officers, starting a drive to get more people from the urban black communities interested in joining the police. This can be done by getting kids in schools to interact with people like police officers, firemen and paramedics, at a young age in a positive encounter. Not just once, but regularly, so they get to know these people that guard them while they sleep. Teach them who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. They need some positive male role models. They have no fathers, a black police officer who risks his life to protect them is a good starting point for a replacement .
These kids are brought up in a world of crime, with no father, taught to hate the police, who are non existent in their neighbourhoods, and rule of law is a foreign concept.
Enforcing the law makes places safer, it saves black lives. Spending millions of dollars militarising the police is a terrible mistake, it has not only a financial opportunity cost, but a social one. People see a faceless army with assault weapons and riot gear, how are they going to relate to that ?
We need more proper cops, cops that come from a community like the one they are trying to police. The sooner young black boys learn that the police are their allies, the better their chance of escaping the shitty cycle of violence and crime.
I'm usually against affirmative action. But sometimes the best person for the job is based on their skin colour. The demographic of a police force needs to reflect the community it polices.
