And all reports I've read say the Bushmaster was actually covered up in the back seat of the car Adam Lanza drove to the school not in the school so I guess that's another potential reporting error that needs to be checked out.

 

Whether semi-automatic weapons were used in Connecticut or not doesn't negate the issue. Why any private citizen needs one of these types of rifles is absurd.

I believe the NRA and other pro gun people/ lobbyists are just afraid that if these guns are banned, it will set a bad precedent for banning other types of guns. I personally dislike guns, but not to the extent that they should all be banned.

If someone wants to own one weapon, fine. A few different models of weapons, again fine. But no one needs lots of weapons and they especially do not have a need for semi automatic weapons.

In addition, if there are weapons in the home, there should be requirements to have some form of combination locked gun safe or gun locking mechanism, so that only certain people within the house have access.

 

I would have no problem reinstating the Assault Weapons Ban that expired in 2004(i think).

If I can't get the job done with a 10 rd. clip, I would be dead anyway. (self defense).

 

N.E. I don't want to be fumbling with locks when I hear an intruder in my house. There are no children in my house.

I already have a safe. I own many weapons, some very valuable. I keep a .45 within reach. Only my gf knows where it is,and yes it is loaded at all times.

I have shot a semi-auto 223 Bushmaster, scope and laser beam on a range...30 round clip..

Bad ass gun...more gun than most ever need...
it may be semi-auto but it is smooth & as fast as you can pull the trigger...but you only want to shoot 3 to 5 round bursts..

I am not against owning guns but there are way too many of these out there...

Gun nuts that want to keep up with the other guy buy them and I guess cause the bad guys have them also..it has gotten worse since Obama has become President because of all the talk of coming riots and dis-rest..

I don't own a weapon that even resembles a Bushmaster. I have no need. When I was in the Marines I was Battalion high shooter with an M-16. No scope. It is also a .223. Perhaps a higher grain, i'm not sure. There was a range where you got to use full auto on.........nobody even got 30% of rounds anywhere near the target! The movies give a false representation of this all the time.

 

I dont own one either and have no desire to.

On the range with a laser beam those damn things will hit the mark but a target dont shoot back..

I prefer pistols (revolver more than auto) and shot guns (pump) for self defense.

I don't own any guns and don't want any. They are not allowed in my house either. If you want to properly license yours and know how to safely use them then that is your right in the US. Trying to ban them and effectively and remove them from the public would be an impossible task.

It is illegal to drive drunk in every state in the Union. If someone gets drunk, drives their car and kills someone, is that the fault of the car or the alcohol? Should we ban cars and alcohol because this has happened in the past? We tried banning alcohol in the 1920's and that didn't work out so well.

This guy took legal guns from his mother after shooting her. What we need to figure out is how to keep bad people from getting their hands on guns. Taking guns from law abiding citizens is not a workable answer.

 

I just read a story where it said the Bushmaster Rifle was found in his back seat ot his car and he only used two semi-auto handguns...

and the mother did not work for the school but may have been a substitute...

Randy, the coroner said the majority of wounds were from the rifle.

I'm beginning to wonder myself because I can't ever remember seeing this many out and out mistakes as well as conflicting information. Just like me reading the vast majority of stories that said exactly what you just said. But now I've read in a couple other places that the coroner said the rifle was the primary weapon.

Also as far as anyone has been able to confirm so far Nancy Lanza was not even a substitute teacher at the school.

Yes now that you pointed that out I've seen a couple other sources that confirm that was the coroners statement.

 

Again I don't know how to confirm this but I've seen Nancy Lanza described as an avid gun collector, who took her sons to the shooting range. She was also described as homeschooling her son and being a dooms day prepper.
