ok heres a convo starter, iv just come from a thread on the blind people and it led me to wounder about disabled people and there sexual way of life and partners etc etc..
so as theres so much diversity when it comes to disability (i.e. everyones so uniqe i guess) how does it work out for them?
say a guy/gal born disabled compared to a solider injuried and now disabled? be intresting to hear your stories experiances and opinions.

 

I have a friend who counsels people with disabilities on sex. I'll never forget her description of teaching deaf people to talk dirty in signs.

Generally, I think people who have lived with disabilities all their lives have an easier time adapting to it than people who have become disabled only recently. If you ever saw the movie "Born on the Fourth of July", you'll know what I mean. But I know a woman who lost both legs in a shark attack, and she has a very active (and kind of kinky) sex life. It's just a matter of your attitude, and the attitudes of others toward you. Once people see you as a person and not a freak, they're better able to cope.

in a class i took last semester we discussed people that are disabled physically or mentally and how they still were able to have a sexual life. it all depends on how in depth you think about a person that is disabled. there is alot of research done on this topic and people that can sometimes seek out professional help to overcome their disability and to understand how they still have a "normal sex life". more power to a person that is paralyzed that he or she can find a person to love them for them. most times depending on how bad the nerve damage is a man can become hard when his genitals are touched however he may not be able to become hard just by seeing porn b/c of nerve damage. also people with mental disabilities are rarely spoken to about sex and having a sex life but they are still curious about sex and usually will seek out help when older and if they live on their own or have some independence.

im sure there are women and men on here that have some sort of ailment, so i think it would be a good boost for them maybe to air whether we individually are attracted to them.
i can say that people with disabilities dont turn me off. its just part of your individuality.
